From its original launch in 1998 when Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall moved to the original River Cottage to start growing and rearing his own food, River Cottage has grown and evolved and now offers a wide range of several different and exciting projects.  There is literally something for everyone.....

River Cottage Cookery School

River Cottage’s HQ is at Park Farm, a 65 acre organic farm which is a couple of miles and a 10 minute drive away from Spillers Farm.  At the HQ there are a wide range of day courses including butchery, baking, foraging, fish, animal husbandry and gardening in addition to artisan skills such as curing and smoking, preserving, beekeeping and building your own earth oven.  Keith has done the ‘Pig in a Day’ course which inspired him to start our own line of charcuterie.  River Cottage also now holds a range of ‘hands-on’ cookery courses teaching traditional cookery skills.  The courses range from one or two days to an all-encompassing four day course.

Evening Events at River Cottage HQ

A beautiful four course local and seasonal menu awaits those who book an evening dinner at River Cottage HQ.  Guests are treated to canapés and a seasonal tipple in the Mongolian Yurt before being seated on long oak tables in the converted threshing barn.  Park Farm where the evening events are held, is a beautifully refurbished 17th century farmhouse and is beautifully situated in a valley opposite Spillers Farm.  We always advise those who book summer evening events to get there early as the view is spectacular.

Weddings & Bespoke Events at River Cottage HQ

River Cottage HQ is a fantastic setting for a celebration and we have had several guests who have either had their wedding reception at the HQ or attended friends’ wedding receptions.  Spillers Farm provides a highly complementary place to stay for those holding or attending a wedding reception at River Cottage.  With our wide range of B&B rooms and accommodation in Primrose Cottage we can host a number of party guests.
